Four first-team players will be missing from Philippe Clement’s squad for the Viaplay Cup semi-final against Hearts, the coach has announced.
The head of Ibrox confirmed that Kemar Roofe, Nico Raskin, John Souttar, and Rabbi Matondo will not be traveling to Hampden.
The remainder of Clement’s team, though, might be available for selection in Sunday’s semi-final match.
“John Souttar, Nico Raskin, Rabbi Matondo, and Kemar Roofe will not be available for selection,” Clement told the media during his pre-match press conference.
“Should everything go well, everyone else should be available.”
On the match, Clement added: “We need to do what we have been doing over the past few weeks – we know it will be a tough challenge – it is a big game and everyone needs to be ready.
“We focus on the game at hand and putting all our energy into that and do our best to get the result.
“We are not focusing on external noise – I said from the beginning, every day is important. The players need to show quality game in and game out, but we need to focus on ourselves.
This is becoming more fluid as the players are starting to realize what we want to do. It helps the team develop and the players gain experience working together.
“I want my players to have ambition; if they follow the right steps, medals will follow. I want to instill in my players the belief that we should be fearless and that it’s okay to make errors because it matters how you respond to them later.”
