Borna Barisic’s contract with Rangers is up for renewal at Ibrox, as per Football Scotland, after Philippe Clement expressed his desire for him to stay.
The Scottish news agency reports that negotiations are underway to prolong the 30-year-old’s tenure at Rangers, as his current deal is set to expire in the summer, on their website on November 3.
As of January 1st, Barisic is free to discuss a free transfer to any international club; however, Clement wants to keep him at Ibrox since he values the experience the player brings to the team, and negotiations between the Rangers board and the player’s agents are still ongoing.
They stated, “Borna Barisic is still in negotiations with the Rangers administration regarding a contract extension despite interest from teams like Roma and Watford.”
The 30-year-old left-back’s current contracts expire in 2024, therefore he will be free to negotiate with other teams in January. That would imply that he would be free to sign for another team, which would be unfortunate for the Ibrox team.
“Manager Phillipe Clement wants to keep the player on the team because of his valuable experience, and Football Scotland is aware that talks are still ongoing to determine the defender’s future.”
