The Phoenix Suns have ruled out Kevin Durant for Monday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers due to right hamstring soreness, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.Earlier this season, Durant had to take a leave of absence due to an ankle injury, but that didn’t keep him out for an extended period of time.
However, given his history of missing the 2019-20 season and the fact that he hasn’t played more than 55 games in any season since then, any injury is cause for concern. Durant’s impact on the court is undeniable. Widely recognized as one of the NBA’s all-time greats, he boasts an impressive career that includes two NBA championships, two NBA Finals MVP awards, one league MVP, one Rookie of the Year title, four scoring titles, ten selections of All-NBA teams, thirteen All-Star appearances, and a spot on the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team. This season, Durant continued to excel with the Suns. In 28 games, he averaged 29.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.1 blocks. He was also efficient shooting, with a success rate of 52.5 percent and a three-point success rate of 47.7 percent.Although Durant’s absence represents a significant loss for Phoenix, the team still has talented players like Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. It was difficult to have all three stars on the roster at once, with Durant being sidelined as the final problem in the process. They should lead the team during Durant’s recovery. Players like Josh Okogie, Chimezie Metu and Yuta Watanabe will likely get more playing time in Durant’s absence.Durant’s next chance to return to the lineup is Wednesday, when the Suns host the Los Angeles Clippers, continuing a six-game series.
