The Phoenix Suns are currently enjoying a welcome three-day break between games. That doesn’t mean, however, that the work doesn’t stop, as the team is taking this opportunity to practice and hopefully strengthen the chemistry between the players.
We know this is a team that has had injury problems so far this season and a new name has appeared on the “old injury” list.During Friday night’s loss to the Sacramento Kings, Nassir Little tried to recover from a De’Aaron Fox miss. As he did so, he took a blow to the head from former Phoenix Sun, JaVale McGee. This forced Little to leave the game and enter the concussion protocol.Little did not return for the remainder of the game. Two days later, there’s not much left of the concussion protocol, and Suns head coach Frank Vogel told the media on Sunday that he also had a fractured orbital bone. When Little returns to the Suns lineup, he will wear a mask. We saw this earlier this season when Jordan Goodwin suffered the same injury and earned the nickname “Sub-Zero.” Little, acquired in the deal that sent Deandre Ayton to the Portland Trail Blazers, played in 16 games for the Suns this season. In his 14.3 minutes played, he scored 5.2 points and added 2.1 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.5 blocks. He shoots 33.3% from three points. It’s her aggressive energy when deployed in the lineup that has forced Vogel to continue giving her minutes. “He’s a very strong two-way player who will help us this year,” Frank said of Little before the season started, and Little has lived up to that observation with his playing time. The Phoenix Suns will play the Golden State Warriors at home on Tuesday night. It is not yet known whether Scott Foster will referee the match.
