Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler will not play Friday against the Phoenix Suns, the final game of the West Coast road trip.
Butler is still dealing with a strained calf. It marks the seventh straight game he will miss.
ANOTHER AWARD FOR JAIME JAQUEZ
Miami Heat forward Jaime Jaquez only knows what it’s like to win the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month award.
He was named the winner for December after yet another strong month. He also won the honor for October/November. He is third Heat player to win it multiple times, joining Caron Butler and Kendrick Nunn.
In December, Jaquez averaged 16.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 84.9 percent from the foul line in December. He also led the team in scoring twice.
WHERE BUTLER, ADEBAYO STAND IN ALL-STAR VOTING
Bam Adebayo and Butler were among the players who made appearances on the first fan ballot returns for the NBA All-Star Game.
Butler checked in at No. 4 on the frontcourt tally with 767,913 votes while Adebayo was listed right behind at fifth with 238,485. The only Eastern Conference players with more votes were Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics.
