It is understood that nothing has been agreed between the two clubs yet, with Julen Lopetegui’s side yet to make a decision on the midfielder’s future.

West Ham United to sell James Ward-Prowse to Nottingham Forest before August 30?

Given the recent update surrounding the former Southampton captain, it is clear that he is not part of Lopetegui’s plans at the London Stadium.

However, it remains to be seen whether the club want to sell the player to a Premier League rival after paying £30million for him just last summer [BBC Sport].

He was a key part of David Moyes’ squad last season, having started 34 of their 38 Premier League matches throughout the campaign, nothing 14 goal contributions.

While Ward-Prowse is an extremely talented midfielder – a beautiful technician on the ball – the new influx of signings may be what seals his last-gasp exit this summer, though only for the right price.

It is understood that the Saints are interested in bringing him back to St Mary’s Stadium, though they can only afford a loan deal after securing promotion last season, which the Hammers are not open to [GiveMeSport].

It looks like The City Ground might be his next destination, though, but Lopetegui and Tim Steidten will need to decide soon with the transfer window ticking towards closure.

With Edson Alvarez returning from injury, Tomas Soucek performing well in midfield alongside Lucas Paqueta, and the new signing of Guido Rodriguez, Ward-Prowse’s exit could be sealed.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have approached Tottenham over a last-gasp transfer.
