One potential adjustment could involve a player from a rival team across the border. Reports suggest the Packers might target Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. for the 2025 season. Murphy, who recently completed a two-year, $17.5 million deal with Minnesota, had an impressive 2024 campaign, recording six interceptions and earning his first Pro Bowl selection. Despite already having six seasons under his belt, Murphy is just 26 years old and has drawn praise from the Packers’ coaching staff during divisional matchups.
Another name linked to Green Bay is cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., who previously played under Packers defensive passing game coordinator Derrick Ansley during their time with the Chargers. Samuel, a former second-round pick, started 47 games for Los Angeles before missing the rest of the 2024 season due to a stinger injury. The Packers have shown interest in him since his pre-draft visit in 2021, making him a potential target for their offseason plans.
