Smart Move: Yankees Targeting Ex-Dodgers, Red Sox Hurler Among Other Free Agents…..

The New York Yankees likely will make at least one or two bullpen additions before Spring Training rolls around. New York is in a much better spot right now than it was toward the end of the 2023 campaign.

The Yankees seem ready to compete for a World Series title in 2024, but solidifying the bullpen is still a priority. The Yankees have been linked to a handful of hurlers in free agency — including possible reunions with Wandy Peralta or Keynan Middleton. There is still some time left, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see a deal get done soon.

One player who has popped up as a possible option for New York is former Los Angeles Angels, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Ryan Brasier, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.

Breaking News Yankees bring back bonus baby who got away…

“The Yankees, currently focused on bullpen pieces, have talked to Héctor Neris, Phil Maton, Ryan Brasier, and Wandy Peralta,” Heyman said. “But they are alleged to be making low offers, perhaps due to the calendar or a supply-demand perception. As YES’ Jack Curry said, they could instead bring back Keynan Middleton instead. He’d cost less.”

Brasier had a rollercoaster of a 2023 season, to say the least. The 36-year-old had a 7.29 ERA in 20 appearances with the Red Sox before being let go. He joined the Dodgers and eventually worked his way back up to the big leagues and had an eye-popping 0.70 ERA in 39 total appearances with Los Angeles.

If he could carry over his performance from his time with the Dodgers to the 2024 campaign, he could be an interesting pickup for New York.
