Michael Carter II returns to Jets practice
The Jets will have their starting slot corner Week 1.
Jets slot cornerback Michael Carter II has returned to practice and looks set to play Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers.
Carter suffered a leg injury in training camp which kept him out of practice.
This is certainly good news for the Jets. Carter has quietly established himself as one of the league’s top slot corners. The Jets also will be able to ease him back into the lineup. Carter’s Week 1 workload should be lighter than typical since the 49ers use bigger personnel groupings more than your typical team. This will likely lead to the Jets using more three linebacker looks on defense and less of Carter than you usually see.
It has been a good training camp for the Jets injury wise. Carter was one of the few players who was banged up in the leadup to the season, and he will still be in the Week 1 lineup.
