The New York Giants find themselves in a strange position heading into the 2023 season. With a two-game winning streak, they have a path to the playoffs as they sit just two games behind the Green Bay Packers , seventh, for the last Wild Card spot.
At the same time, they are in the race for a top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.At 4-8, New York is firmly in contention for the top three, which would give them an elite contender. Their biggest need happens to be at the same positions occupied by top prospects, as a top-four pick would guarantee the Giants a highly valued quarterback, wide receiver or offensive tackle.
Coincidentally, the Giants and Packers will face off on Monday Night Football to close out Week 14. This game will go a long way in determining which path the Giants take. Most of their fans would like them to get as high a draft pick as possible to add elite talent to the roster.
Even if the coaches and players on the roster aren’t intentionally losing games, racking up the losses and getting a first-round pick wouldn’t be the worst thing for the franchise’s long-term prospects. ESPN’s Matt Miller agrees with this fanbase, as he believes a reset of the quarterback position early in the draft is the best path forward.

Jones’ contract expires after the 2024 season, and management will think long and hard about pulling the trigger.
