PHOENIX — The deadline of Dec. 15 has arrived, allowing NBA free agents signed in the offseason to become eligible for trade. Six Phoenix Suns players are now able to be traded, though this doesn’t necessarily mean a deal is imminent. The Suns have been part of trade rumors, especially with reports of interest in Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat.
Although it’s unclear what might come of these rumors or any other potential trades, these six Suns players are now available for trade if the team chooses:
- Tyus Jones: One of the three Suns players to have appeared in every game, Jones has been a key asset for Phoenix, running the offense and reducing turnovers. It’s hard to imagine the Suns trading him given his significant role.
- Monte Morris: Morris has been a solid contributor off the bench at point guard, helping to stabilize the second unit. With questions about the team’s depth, his presence has been valuable, though he’s less likely to be traded than others.
- Royce O’Neale: Acquired via trade last season, O’Neale was re-signed this summer and has become the reliable three-and-D player the Suns hoped for, shooting an impressive 45.6% from three-point range. It’s unlikely he’ll be traded unless a rare opportunity arises.
- Mason Plumlee: Plumlee has been a steady presence at center behind Jusuf Nurkic and has arguably outperformed expectations. He serves as a dependable backup, and if a center were to be traded, Nurkic might be more likely to be dealt.
- Bol Bol: After a strong start with the Suns last season, Bol has seen limited action this year, playing in just seven games under head coach Mike Budenholzer.
- Damion Lee: Once a top three-point shooter, Lee’s career was interrupted by a meniscus injury before last season. After re-signing with Phoenix this summer, he has only appeared in four games and has fallen out of the rotation entirely.
