With the help of offensive head coach Mike McDaniel, the Miami Dolphins have become one of the most dominant teams in the NFL this season.
They had the best offense in the NFL and since the return of elite cornerback Jalen Ramsey, the defense has become a formidable unit as well. The problem that all great teams face at this stage of the season is injuries. Miami is no different and when teams can’t take offense to their players on the field, they resort to creative solutions. On Wednesday afternoon, it was announced that Miami was in talks with former All-Pro defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Suh was a generational talent in the trenches and would provide Miami and elite pass rushers between the tackles. While he spent last season with the NFL’s Super Bowl representative Philadelphia Eagles, Suh spent the best years of his long career with the Detroit Lions and Miami. Suh was taken with the third pick of the NFL Draft with Detroit in 2010 and was an All-Pro until 2016. Suh was with Miami during that stretch from 2015-2017. There would be no final contract on the table yet, but based on Suh’s clear late-career goals of winning another Super Bowl, Miami would be a great fit for the elite 3-technique defensive tackle. Miami has arguably developed into the best secondary in the NFL, but their defensive line could use some help. Miami appears to be one of the best teams in the NFL, but it ends its season against three of its biggest rivals and is in contention for a trip to the Super Bowl this season. This week, they face the second-best team in the NFC, the Dallas Cowboys, who still boast one of the best offensive lines in the game. Although no one has ever disputed Suh’s talent, he is considered a benchmark on the field. Suh has a reputation as a dirty player and famously earned a number of nasty personal fouls during his time in the league.One of the star defender’s most memorable moments came during a game against the Green Bay Packers in 2011, when he knocked an offensive lineman to the ground and then stomped on his head. Suh was immediately sent off and disqualified for the absurd brutality displayed. This is just one example and a problem Miami doesn’t want to address. Suh is an immensely talented player, but having him on Miami’s roster could help or hurt the team as they push for a Super Bowl berth.
