Just In: Dolphins Coach Says Team Has ‘Important 48 Hours’ to Decide Quarterback Plans…

The Miami Dolphins have a dire situation at quarterback. Last week, Tua Tagovailoa was placed on injured reserve after suffering a concussion against the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 12.

Backup quarterback Skylar Thompson sustained a rib injury in the Dolphins’ loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3. Head coach Mike McDaniel said the next two days would be critical in determining if Thompson could play against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4. “I think we have an important 48 hours to see where (Thompson’s) at,” McDaniel said. “We’ll just have to take it a day at a time. There’s a lot on the table.”

Thompson went 13-of-19 passing for 107 yards against the Seahawks. If Thompson cannot play against the Titans on Monday, the Dolphins could turn to Tim Boyle or Tyler Huntley.

The Dolphins are still considering adding outside help for depth at quarterback. Per Cameron Wolfe with the NFL Network, McDaniel said Tua will meet with outside neurologists this week. “The plan hasn’t changed,” McDaniel said. “It’s been executed. That’s where it stands. I don’t know reports, who sources are, but people should talk to me. I’ve got the real information.” The Dolphins desperately need one of their backup quarterbacks to step up against the Titans on Monday to avoid starting the season 1-3.
