The No. 6 Miami Dolphins travel to Arrowhead Stadium to face the No. 3 seeded Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday at 7 p.m. Central time.Miami’s pass rush has been incredible this season. They rank 13th in rushing, second in quarterback touchdowns, third in pressures, fourth in pressure percentage, 10th in pass rushing percentage and third in sacks.
Unfortunately, the top three EDGE runners are out for the rest of the season. Jaylan Phillips tore his Achilles tendon in Week 12, Bradley Chubb tore his ACL in Week 17 and Andrew Van Ginkel suffered a foot injury in Week 18.The Dolphins need to take the eight-year veteran to the next level in the playoffs and prove he’s not a victim. His name is Emmanuel Ogba.Miami signed Emmanuel Ogbah to a two-year, $15 million contract in the 2020 offseason. Ogba played in every game of the 2020 season, starting 12 times. He had 42 tackles, six for loss, 21 quarterback hits, nine sacks, five pass deflections, three forced fumbles and 36 pressures. EzoicOgbah appeared in every game of the 2021 season and made 11 starts. He recorded 41 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 24 pass breakups, 12 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble and 39 pressures. Ogbach signed a four-year, $65.4 million contract extension through the 2022 offseason.Ogba started 3 games and played in 9 games during the 2022 season. He recorded 11 tackles, one tackle for loss, seven quarterback hits, one sack and nine pressures. He suffered a triceps injury in Week 10 and missed the rest of the 2022 season. Since the Dolphins hired Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator, Ogba’s role has been reduced as Fangio’s scheme uses athletic linebackers and throwbacks instead of traditional 3-4 defensive ends (like Ogba). EzoicOgbach has played in 15 games this season, starting one. He has 20 tackles, three for loss, nine quarterback hits, 5.5 sacks, one interception, two pass deflections, one forced fumble and 15 pressures, playing in 22.26 percent of defensive snaps.Ogba suffered a hamstring injury in Week 15 and was ruled out for Week 16. It was a healthy scratch at 17 weeks. Here’s what Ogba had to say about not playing in the game against Baltimore:Ezoic”It was tough,” Ogbach said of the bench last week. “But I’m excited about the possibilities. Whatever they need from me, I’m ready. And I’ve been ready all year.”Emmanuel Ogbah was under pressure to get a win against Kansas City. He is fighting for a spot on the defensive end of the Miami Dolphins. If he can play well, Miami can keep him. If he doesn’t play well, he could be a big hit in the 2024 offseason. Can Emmanuel Ogba take advantage of a team that allows the second fewest sacks and has the highest turnover rate?
