MARRIED TO A PERFORMER: Liverpool have fallen in love with a Brazilian tackling machine – & he’s ready-made for…

Although defensive midfield is arguably the least attractive position on a football field, if you can prove yourself there, you instantly gain value.

One of the most challenging aspects of the recruitment gig is finding a truly great holder to let the creative players show off while also setting them on their path against strong defenses.

Some of England’s finest teams, including Liverpool, are taking notice of a certain player in Brazil due to his astounding performances with Fluminense.

In fact, he is so good that he only requires one name. Consider Prince. Imagine Sting. Andre already belongs to a select group of heroes, but his talent on the football field might catapult him to even greater notoriety.

With the departure of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabia and the addition of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch, Liverpool completed a much-needed midfield overhaul this summer.

That’s great, but among that trio, is there really a Fabinho replacement? Someone who, on their best day, can shut down any player in the world, but who can also take the ball in the smallest opening and keep things moving along like a rusted-out diesel engine?

Although not yet, if reports are to be believed, the Reds may sign the player who can close that gap.

Andre is fully equipped to develop into the Fabinho replacement that football sorely needs.

Andre was raised in Ibirataia, in the state of Bahia, and joined Fluminense when he was 12 years old. Since then, he has steadily risen through the ranks of one of the top clubs in Brazil.

He has played 158 times for the oldest club in Rio de Janeiro at the age of just 22, and his aggressive yet disciplined performances in the center of the team have quietly created ripples.

Standing barely five foot seven, he is shorter than Fabinho, but other than that, the two players couldn’t be more similar in terms of their annoying propensity for snatching the ball away from an attacker’s feet, putting a leg in, and quickly dismantling an attack.

In other words, he’s a joy to play with but a complete misery to play against.

Isn’t Jurgen Klopp the ideal cup of tea?

You get a lump in your throat just picturing him behind a free-flowing Szoboszlai and Mac Allister. frighteningly even.

His stock has increased significantly after he received his first senior Brazil cap earlier in 2023, which is not surprising given his good looks.

He not only has the cunning to read any opponent like a book, leaving them grasping at straws and slamming the ground in desperation, but he also displays a very natural Brazilian flare in possession, flicking the ball from side to side before shifting it on.
