This Premier League season, Mohamed Salah has been in nothing less of sensational form.
The Egyptian winger has assumed the role of the Reds’ undeniable scoring and playmaking center as Jurgen Klopp’s ambition moves beyond its initial phase. And thus far this season, Salah has been on point.
Mo has been selected as the PFA Premier League Fans’ Player of the Month for September in recognition of his efforts. It’s a strange name for an award, but you’d be right if you guessed—as I did—that it might be done to explicitly distinguish it from the League’s Player of the Month Award (which is also, at least in part, determined by fan voting). The fact that Heung-Min Son won that prize and Spurs coach Ange Postecoglou completed the monthly hat trick for Tottenham in September may be a little early to bring up.
Although it actually is uncommon for people to be fully appreciated in real time, it is nevertheless good to have our players acknowledged for their work, so we will take it. We can only hope that Mo’s performance keeps up, as well as the clear connection to Liverpool’s stratospheric ascent to the top of the standings. After the following International Break, we have a match against City and a respectable run ahead of us. Let’s seize every advantage.
