The online outlet reported on Twitter on Wednesday (22 November) that the 21-year-old is valued at £3million by Swedish side Hammarby.
It said the Whites are assessing central defensive targets ahead of the January transfer window, but the club will only make a move to sign the Ghanaian U-23 international if a first-team centre-back leaves Elland Road.
It sounds as though Leeds are looking to ensure they are well-prepared in case one of their centre-backs decides to move on in January.
There is a good chance the player in question could be Charlie Cresswell after he has found his chances extremely limited so far this season.
The England U-21 international will understandably be desperate to earn more first-team opportunities and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him leave in January, with a loan deal the most likely option.
That would open up the door for Adjei to make the switch to Elland Road, but the Whites could face some competition after Preston, Rangers and Celtic have all previously been credited with an interest in signing him.
That means Hammarby will be keen to secure their £3million valuation of the player as the speculation around his future is only likely to increase as the transfer window edges closer.
