Manchester United secured an impressive 2-1 victory over Manchester City in Sunday’s Premier League derby at the Etihad Stadium.
Despite being on the verge of defeat, the Red Devils staged a remarkable comeback with two late goals within 115 seconds. The team continues to show progress under new manager Ruben Amorim, who may receive backing in the January transfer window for reinforcements.
While Andre Onana remains United’s first-choice goalkeeper, reports suggest the club is looking to bring in a strong competitor. Altay Bayindir, who joined from Fenerbahce, has struggled for game time, making just three appearances, and is reportedly considering an exit in January.
Amid this situation, UOL reports that United have reached out to Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor as a potential replacement for Bayindir. Victor, who recently helped Botafogo win both the Série A and Copa Libertadores titles, had an exceptional season with 51 appearances, a 79% save rate, and 77% passing accuracy.
Standing at 197 cm, Victor is a commanding presence and a skilled ball-playing goalkeeper with superior reflexes compared to Onana. Botafogo is reportedly asking for £20 million, though United may aim to negotiate a lower fee with performance-related bonuses.
