DONE NOW: A legend of Manchester United approves Ruben Amorim’s return to the team.

Manchester United icon Jaap Stam has expressed interest in returning to the club as a coach, though he acknowledges that Ruben Amorim has yet to reach out to him.

Stam, who played for United for three seasons, achieved significant success during his time at the club, winning six major trophies, including the historic treble in the 1998/99 season. He was sold to Lazio in 2001 following a disagreement with Sir Alex Ferguson, a decision the legendary manager later admitted was a mistake.

Widely regarded as one of United’s best modern-era defenders, Stam transitioned into management after his playing career. Notably, he came within a penalty shootout of leading Reading to Premier League promotion in the 2016/17 season. He has also managed Dutch clubs PEC Zwolle and Feyenoord, as well as MLS side FC Cincinnati.

The Dutchman has now revealed his desire to rejoin Manchester United in a coaching role.
