Jed Wills’s injury: A noteworthy and optimistic update on Monday
When the Browns left tackle was hurt, everyone feared the worst.
It’s incredible that the Cleveland Browns are 5-3 this season considering their quarterback situation and injury history, and they have a good chance of winning one or two more games already. It appeared like the bad luck with injuries wouldn’t stop when starting guard Jedrick Wills hurt his knee and had to be carried off the field with an air cast on his leg.
Already this season, the Browns have lost Nick Chubb and Jack Conklin for the year. Not only were both huge parts of the team’s rushing attack but also stalwarts of the entire offense.
As QB Deshaun Watson started to show signs of life in Week 9, Wills’ injury was assumed to be another season-ender.
Monday morning, HC Kevin Stefanski gave us a positive Wills update:
Having been placed on injured reserve, Wills is certain to miss the team’s final four games at the very least, though he may make a comeback in the closing games. James Hudson III was the “next man up,” according to Stefanski, but he wouldn’t say if he would start at left tackle for the team in Week 10.

This story suggests that Wills might return for the next few games of the regular season before, ideally, making a deep run in the playoffs. Stefanski also verified that wide receiver Marquise Goodwin is a part of the league’s concussion protocol.
