Chelsea are open to offers for midfielders Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Carney Chukwuemeka.
Enzo Maresca is willing to let the pair leave on loan in January, but their high wages present a challenge. Any potential deal would likely require Chelsea to cover a portion of their salaries to facilitate the moves.
Just six months after his £30 million departure, Leicester City has expressed interest in re-signing Dewsbury-Hall. The midfielder has primarily featured in the Europa Conference League and with Chelsea’s second-string squad.
Chukwuemeka, 21, is also a candidate for a January exit, with Crystal Palace reportedly keen on him. Since arriving from Aston Villa in a £20 million deal as a teenager, Chukwuemeka has struggled for regular game time and remains a fringe player this season.
Maresca revealed last month that Dewsbury-Hall initially “struggled to accept” his reduced role at Chelsea, telling the Daily Mail:
“Kiernan was the most important player at Leicester. He moved to Chelsea to become one of many. That’s a difficult adjustment, and he struggled at first. But now, he’s improving. As a manager, I’m happy with Kiernan—no question.
“He just needs to keep working, wait for his opportunity, and seize it, which he’s doing well in the Conference League. He’s doing OK.”
As for Chukwuemeka, Maresca acknowledged that a summer move would have been “better” for the young midfielder. Earlier this year, he explained:
“Carney is a very talented player, but with the number of players we have, we felt it would have been better for him to go somewhere else, play 30 or 35 games, and prove himself, rather than staying here with limited minutes.
“Unfortunately, that didn’t materialize. He remains our player. He got some minutes recently but wasn’t involved today. Hopefully, we can give him more game time moving forward.”
