According to Turkish news outlet Fanatik, Cardiff City are interested in Besiktas midfielder Salih Ucan.
Cardiff City have made a good start under Erol Bulut. They are currently in eighth place in the Championship table, just one point shy of the play-offs.
The Bluebirds have the opportunity to strengthen their squad during the next January transfer window. Ucan, 29, is the most recent name to be connected with a move to Wales.
Bulut, according to Fanatik, is devising a ‘plan’ to get the Turkey international to Cardiff City Stadium this winter.
Ucan might be seen as someone who can help Cardiff in the middle of the park. At the moment, he is not assured regular first-team football at Besiktas.
So far this season, he has made seven appearances in all competitions, but only two of them have come in the Turkish Super Lig.
Ucan joined the Istanbul giants from Alanyaspor in 2021 and has since played 54 games for them, scoring four goals. He has also been on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir.
His contract with Besiktas Stadium will expire at the end of the season. If he doesn’t sign an extension in the meanwhile, his team risks losing him for free in June 2024 unless they can cash in on him in January.
Ucan began his career at Bucaspor and Fenerbahce before moving on to Roma and Empoli in Italy. He had already spent time in Switzerland at Sion.
Cardiff City might give him his first taste of English football. They return to action this weekend against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
