A report came out that the Baltimore Ravens have offered Derrick Henry. No deal has been reached.
I’m told there’s interest on both sides between the #Ravens and RB Derrick Henry, per source.
An agreement still has to be reached though. We’ll see.
An offer is on the table for the top running back of free agency. Derrick Henry and the Ravens have a mutual interest. The offer of $6.5 million per year was leaked late Monday.
Derrick Henry would add an element that the Ravens have not had since Ray Rice or Jamal Lewis: an elite running back who can carry the rock. Yes, Derrick Henry is not at the peak of his career. He is 30 years old and entering his ninth season. What Henry can offer is a legitimate threat next to Lamar Jackson.
The Baltimore Ravens have been a top rushing team in the NFL for the past six seasons. They have ranked in the top five in rushing yards, yards per game, and rush attempts since 2018. Ironically enough, that is when Lamar Jackson took over the starting quarterback role.
Henry would undoubtedly add to that rushing attack. He has averaged over four yards per carry his entire NFL career. Last season, Derrick had over 1,000 yards rushing on 280 carries and 12 touchdowns.
Demand for Henry
Henry’s offer from the Ravens seems to be in the six to seven-million dollar range.
According to Spotrac.com, Henry’s predicted market value for a one-year deal is $10.3 million, which could be a problem for Baltimore, given its current cap space.
The Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and Las Vegas Raiders are also in play for Derrick Henry
Fighting sleep like it was a tied game on Monday Night Football with playoff implications.
I am convinced that If I fall asleep, Derrick Henry will sign with someone.
Yo @NFL – could we please have an overnight pause like a slow draft?
