Arsenal handed huge injury boost ahead of Newcastle clash

Arsenal have received a significant injury boost as they prepare for their upcoming Premier League showdown against Newcastle United on Saturday. After a series of injuries hindered their early-season campaign, Arsenal head to St. James’ Park aiming to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the Emirates.
The Gunners’ injury woes deepened after Gabriel Magalhaes was substituted with a suspected knee injury against Liverpool, adding to the list of sidelined players, including Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Their opponents, Newcastle United, currently face their own challenges, grappling with a five-match winless streak in the league. Adding to their struggles, key forward Anthony Gordon remains a doubt.
The 23-year-old missed Newcastle’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea due to a groin complaint, a result that further highlighted Newcastle’s recent dip in form. Though Gordon travelled with the squad, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe confirmed the injury required further evaluation.

“He’s been for a scan, and we’re hopeful the injury isn’t serious,” Howe shared after the Chelsea defeat. “It was just a niggle he felt in training, and while it didn’t seem concerning at first, we’ll have to assess his readiness ahead of Arsenal.”

Gordon remains a possible option for the Arsenal fixture, though Howe emphasised the need for caution to avoid aggravating the injury. Meanwhile, Newcastle will be without striker Callum Wilson, who has yet to make an appearance this season due to ongoing back and hamstring issues.

Howe confirmed Wilson’s absence for Arsenal, stating, “We’re going to lose Callum for the next three games. He’s been close to returning, but his body just isn’t ready for that last step yet.”

With both teams managing injuries, Arsenal will hope to capitalise on Newcastle’s challenges and return to winning ways as they look to climb the Premier League standings.
