JUST IN: A forgotten £2.9 million star might return to Wolves.

Wolves could potentially bring back Chiquinho in January after his loan spell at RCD Mallorca has not worked out as planned.

According to Spanish outlet Onda Cero, reported via Sport Witness, Chiquinho’s loan with the La Liga club might be cut short next month, paving the way for his return to Molineux. The 24-year-old has made seven appearances in the league this season, with only one start. Since November, he has played just 83 minutes, and in three of his last five matches, he was an unused substitute. Despite Mallorca’s position in fifth place, which secures a Europa League spot, Chiquinho may not be part of their efforts to achieve this goal.

There was an option to make his move permanent, but it now seems likely that the two sides will part ways. A return to Wolves would force the club to decide his future. Since he is over 21, Chiquinho would need to be added to the club’s 25-man squad list in order to play, but with the quota already filled, Wolves may need to offload some players if they wish to conduct any transfers.

Chiquinho’s only notable appearances this season include a six-minute cameo against Arsenal and a full 90 minutes in an EFL Cup victory over Burnley in August. He has been at the club since January 2022, but first-team opportunities have been scarce.

His contract with Wolves runs until the summer of 2026, and with new manager Vitor Pereira in charge, the decision will be whether to give him a chance or allow his departure, potentially generating funds for the January transfer window.
