Marcus Rashford has rejected the chance to move to Saudi Arabia, as he only wants to join Barcelona, which could have implications on the future of Liverpool forward Luis Diaz.
Barca is in the market for a new left-sided forward, and after missing out on Nico Williams, who recently signed a 10-year contract at Athletic Bilbao, Diaz and Rashford appear to be the Catalan club’s top fallback targets.
Rashford clearly has no future at Manchester United after being cast aside by head coach Ruben Amorim, but the 27-year-old’s monster salary could prove to be a stumbling block for potential suitors.
One place where there won’t be an issue with Rashford picking up the same kind of salary he is on at United is Saudi Arabia, but Mundo Deportivoreports that the England forward has no intention of going there.
Rashford is said to still be waiting on a possible move to Barca — a club he supposedly “dreams” about joining and would be willing to take a significant pay cut in order to do so.
Rashford signed a five-year contract at United worth around $400,000 per week off the back of scoring 30 goals in the 2022-23 season, but he has tallied just 19 goals across the last two campaigns.
United value Rashford at around $47 million, which is significantly lower than Liverpool’s valuation of Diaz, which is believed to be closer to the $90 million mark.
