Wolverhampton Wanderers sent Chiquinho on a season-long loan to RCD Mallorca during the final stages of the summer transfer window. The winger, who made just two appearances for Wolves in the Premier League, joined the Spanish side with high expectations.
According to Onda Cero, Chiquinho’s loan spell at Mallorca could be terminated early, potentially seeing him return to Wolves in January. Although his arrival in Spain generated considerable excitement, with Marca in September highlighting his strong initial impression, the situation has since changed. Mallorca’s sporting director, Pablo Ortells, previously mentioned there was an option to make the loan permanent, but this now appears unlikely.
Chiquinho has struggled for regular playing time, managing only 140 minutes across seven La Liga matches, with just 27 minutes played in over a month. He has failed to secure a prominent role, and the competition from players like Robert Navarro, Valery Fernández, Javi Llabrés, Dani Rodríguez, and Antonio Sánchez has limited his opportunities further.
Onda Cero reports that the Wolves winger is now on the “exit ramp” at Mallorca, suggesting the loan will be cut short in January. However, having already played for two clubs this season, Chiquinho would likely remain at Wolves for the remainder of the campaign.
