The Packers have officially designated tight end Luke Musgrave to return from injured reserve, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.
Musgrave landed on injured reserve on October 11 due to an ankle injury that required surgery. Speaking on Wednesday, Musgrave expressed confidence in returning to the field this season, stating, “As soon as possible that they’ll let me go, I’ll go,” per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
Last season, as a rookie, Musgrave caught 34 passes for 352 yards in 11 games. However, he managed only five receptions for 22 yards this year before his injury. In his absence, fellow 2023 Day 2 pick Tucker Kraft has emerged as a key contributor, leading the team with seven receiving touchdowns, ranking second in receptions (39), and third in receiving yards (521).
Green Bay is hopeful Musgrave can stay healthy for the remainder of the season after also dealing with a lacerated kidney that sidelined him during part of 2023. The team has invested heavily in young pass-catchers to support quarterback Jordan Love, though injuries have been a persistent challenge for the group.
Musgrave now has a three-week practice window before the Packers must activate him to the roster. If not, he will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season.
