According to Kent Police, a motorcyclist lost their life in an accident on the M25 close to the Dartford Crossing.
At approximately 14:30 GMT on Wednesday, the force was summoned to the clockwise carriageway on the Kent side.
The biker, a man in his 50s, was declared dead at the scene despite the arrival of police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb).
The man’s next of kin have been notified, according to the police.
The road wasn’t fully reopened until 23:45 after being closed while the situation was being handled.
Due to traffic being rerouted, Dartford and Greenhithe experienced congestion, and the closure resulted in “heavy” traffic on the A2 and A13.
Anyone who witnessed the event or has video footage of it is encouraged to contact Kent Police.
