In Game 5 of the 2021 NBA Finals, Holiday, then on the Milwaukee Bucks, stripped the ball away from Booker with 20 seconds left and the Bucks up 120-119 before finding Giannis Antetokounmpo for an and-one dunk to seal the game and take a 3-2 series lead. The Bucks would go on to win the series 4-2, shutting out Phoenix from its first NBA championship.

Booker did everything he could to try to will Phoenix to the finish line, recording back-to-back 40-point games in Games 4 and 5 in the Finals. The respect was always there from Holiday to Booker.

“Book, that boy nice,” Holiday said in his postgame interview immediately after winning The Finals.

Just three days after the conclusion of the Finals, Booker and Holiday would head over to their first Olympics in Tokyo on the same plane ride to play for Team USA, eventually helping the U.S. win its fourth-straight Olympic gold medal.

This year, Booker and Holiday teamed up once again on Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics and played major roles to help the U.S. win another gold medal, as Holiday started three of the six Olympic games, while Booker started all six.

Holiday was asked today who the connections he enjoyed on the USA squad and named Booker first.

“I think Devin Booker, the way he plays, kind of how you play off each other with him is pretty easy,” Holiday said at a Raising Cane’s event in Boston.

Booker has been praised countless times by various stars for his Olympics performance, as he averaged 11.7 points on 56.8% shooting from the field, 56.5% shooting from 3 and 3.3 assists in 22 minutes per game and transitioned from being a superstar in the NBA to a perfect role player for the U.S.. Team USA coach Steve Kerr called Booker the “unsung MVP” of the team

Holiday has always played a similar role in the NBA that Booker played on Team USA, being known for doing all the little things, making the right play and defending his heart out.

His style of play has now led to him winning two NBA championships and two Olympic gold medals.

Booker is still searching for his first NBA championship, but will look to build off the confidence and experience gained from the Olympics in the upcoming NBA season.
