Steve McManaman heard Liverpool supporters praising Ryan Gravenberch’s performance this evening.
An nice evening for Liverpool was had by Gravenberch, who scored his first goal for the team after capitalizing on Union Saint-Gilloise goalie Anthony Moris’ slip.
The 21-year-old had a good chance to win the evening’s most outstanding player award despite playing poorly overall. Jurgen Klopp pulled him out of the game with about 12 minutes remaining, and TNT Sports analyst McManaman observed the response of the Anfield crowd.

The Dutch international made another start and contributed another goal. He’s adjusting to his new circumstances extremely well.
Gravenberch gets first Liverpool goal
Right from the first whistle of the game, there was something slightly different about Gravenberch this evening.
So far in his Liverpool career the midfielder has looked to be playing a little within himself. There have been some moments of real quality, including a great assist on the opening matchday in the Europa League.
But by and large, Gravenberch has had to feel his way into life at Liverpool, with a series of quiet cameos.

Even while the goal itself, as McManaman notes, wasn’t a great sign of that, it was still a decent display of anticipation. The former Bayern Munich player bet that the goalkeeper would drop the ball at his feet, and that is exactly what happened. Gravenberch’s £34 million move was officially announced in September, and he hasn’t stopped grinning since. He had a grin as big as the Mersey tonight, the roar of Anfield echoing in his ears.
