News Now: The Yankees to bring back their fan-favorite bullpen….

The New York Yankees are still looking to strengthen their bullpen this offseason and appear to have their starting rotation wrapped up with the recent addition of Marcus Stroman.

The Yankees have been in contact with left-handed pitcher Vandy Peralta’s representatives, so a familiar face could be one of the bullpen targets. Peralta is currently a free agent after spending the last three seasons with the Yankees. MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch reports that the Yankees have been in contact with Peralta’s agent as they remain interested in bringing him back for next season. The lefty, a Yankees fan favorite, batted 2.82 while wearing the pinstripes. In 2023, Peralta hit an 85.2% left base percentage and a 57.4% ground ball percentage in 54 innings while dealing with a triceps injury. Although it wasn’t his best season, Peralta was a great member of the club. His presence in the team can still be important for the players. Reuniting with Peralta could provide the depth the Yankees are looking for in their bullpen. They’re interested in reuniting with Peralta, but he’s not the only face the Yankees are targeting. Hoch reported that the Yankees are also exploring the possibility of reuniting with righty Keinan Middleton. Middleton and Peralta stand out as familiar pitchers for the Yankees, but they could also bring in some new faces to round out the bullpen. Peralta clearly energizes the fan base. That’s because the 33-year-old pitcher has earned the respect of the best in the Bronx. Bringing in Peralta may seem like a ship that has once sailed, but the Yankees’ interest suggests a reunion is still possible.
