The Miami Dolphins revealed updates on a pair of troubling injuries suffered late in the fourth quarter of a blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The Dolphins handed Lamar Jackson the NFL MVP and the Ravens the number-one seed in the AFC in their 56-19 loss Sunday.
Head coach Mike McDaniel is getting hammered by the media and fans following his decision to leave starters Tua Tagovailoa and Bradley Chubb in the game late in the fourth quarter when the game was out of hand. Tua suffered a shoulder injury with 8:02 left in the game, and the Ravens held a 42-19 lead.
A few minutes later, Dolphins star pass rusher Chubb was carted off the field with a knee injury. Those injuries could loom large for Week 18 when they play the Buffalo Bills to decide which team wins the AFC East.
According to Daniel Oyefusi with the Miami Herald, Tua said that he felt his shoulder was good after the game. He said it was sore.
Tua’s quad and thumb injuries were good enough for him to start against the Ravens. But those injuries hampered his playmaking abilities against the Ravens. The shoulder injury could cause problems for Tua against the Bills next week.
According to Marcel Louis-Jacques with ESPN, Tua gave a troubling update for Chubb. Tua said the Dolphins are praying for Chubb. Tua’s tone suggests Chubb could be out for a while, if not the season.
McDaniel’s choice to keep Tua and Chubb in late Sunday will cost the Dolphins in their game against the Bills in Week 18. Tua will have to play much better through injuries next week than he did against the Ravens when he didn’t have shoulder soreness.
