News Report: Herro and team mate help Heat stave off Young and the Hawks, 122-113….

MIAMI (AP) — Trae Young made history. So did Duncan Robinson, and that was the difference for Miami.

Tyler Herro scored 30 points, Robinson scored 21 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter and the Heat overcame another big night from Young en route to a 122-113 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night. Robinson equaled the most points ever scored in a quarter; he also scored 21 in the second quarter of the Heat’s win over Cleveland on November 20, 2019. “It shows how much he’s improved in all areas,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.Young finished the game with 30 points and 13 assists for the Hawks – his sixth straight game with at least 30 points and 10 assists. It is the second-longest such streak in NBA history, surpassed only by Oscar Robertson.Robertson had such a streak twice – six games in January 1964, then seven games from December 1964 to January 1965. The only other players with a five-game streak of 30 points and 10 assists: Tiny Archibald in 1973, Michael Jordan in 1973 in 1989 and Russell Westbrook in 2017. “You want to keep it at a high level,” Hawks coach Quin Snyder said. “That’s what I’m trying to do. “That’s the standard he holds himself to.Jaime Jaquez Jr. scored 19 points and Bam Adebayo finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for the Heat, who trailed by 11 points early in the third quarter before rallying.Robinson scored 11 straight Miami points in the fourth, a streak that ended when Herro hit a 3-pointer that put the Heat up 104-96 with 6:48 left.“They have a lot of guys that can play and they have a system that they can play with,” Young said. Dejounte Murray scored 24 points and Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 20 of his 23 in the first half for the Hawks. Atlanta is 11-2 when scoring at least 123 points and is now 1-14 when not scoring as many points.Bogdanovic had scored at least 20 points coming off the bench for the sixth straight game, the longest in the NBA with a reserve since Herro did so in seven straight games for Miami during the 2021-22 season.Miami is generally as good as anyone defensively against Young. He entered Friday’s game against Miami averaging 20.5 points and 7.9 assists on 39 percent shooting in 24 career games. Only Dallas held him to fewer points per game, only Utah held him to fewer assists per game and only Charlotte and the Jazz held him to a lower field goal percentage. Young shot 10-of-22 and 7-of-13 from 3-point range on Friday. He had 16 of his 30 in the quarter.“For us, he showed him different coverages,” Adebayo said.
