Robinson injured his ankle earlier this month. The Knicks initially announced on December 11 that he would undergo surgery and be re-evaluated in 8-10 weeks. Then on Wednesday, a report surfaced that New York had requested a disabled player waiver in hopes that Robinson would miss the remainder of the season. Robinson all but confirmed this report with a heartbreaking message he shared on social media on Thursday.”I just don’t understand…I do everything I’m asked to do when it comes to my body and it always comes out like shit.” “Another year, another disappointment,” Robinson wrote (published by LBS big words). Due to various illnesses, Robinson was only able to play 59 games last season. He also suffered from hip problems and a broken hand a few years ago. The ankle injury is the most significant to date. The news obviously couldn’t be worse for Robinson, so his disappointment is understandable. As for the Knicks, they recently hired a frontcourt veteran and will likely target another big man since the 7-foot Robinson is not returning this season.
