The Phoenix Suns revealed a touching tribute video to commemorate beloved former members of the franchise back to the Valley for NBA action the first time since the blockbuster Kevin Durant trade was completed in February.
Current Brooklyn Nets stars Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson were both fan favorites during their entire Suns tenure and both still have lots of love for the Valley even after being moved to Brooklyn. Bridges echoed the notion that this was a night he’s been looking forward to, along with his continued appreciation of the Suns fanbase, saying this during the Nets morning shoot around today:”Definitely excited. Usually I’m kind of not like that, usually super locked in on the game and everything like that – which I still am – but it’s a little different being here for so long and just being here, embracing the fans and everybody here. I’m just excited to see a lot of people that I’ve seen since I’ve been here.”The Suns played an approximately 45-second tribute video pre-game, commemorating some of the “twins” memorable moments as members of the franchise prior to their announced inclusion in the Nets’ starting five. Suns PA announcer Vince Marotta announced the duo as starters to an electric response from the Suns home crowd. Bridges and Johnson have both grown their games in Brooklyn, but especially Bridges. The Nets forward has been on a tear recently, averaging 29.3 PPG on 58.2/61.1/90.3 shooting splits in December, and seems to be making a legitimate case to be a first-time all star selection. Johnson is averaging 14.7 PPG and 5.7 RPG this season. The possibility of Bridges re-joining the Suns in free agency 2026 isn’t out of the question, so this may not be a goodbye after all.
