The Blitzboks remained unbeaten at the Dubai Sevens on Saturday after beating Canada in their second Pool A match.
The Springboks Sevens side, who are the defending champions in the Middle East, scored five tries in winning 35-14.
Shilton van Wyk’s intercept try opened the scoring, before Christie Grobbelaar and Selvyn Davids dotted down for a 21-0 lead at half time for the Blitzboks
Canada were first to score in the second half as Kal Sager picked up a five-pointer, but the Blitzboks responded through rookie Quewin Nortje who displayed impressive pace to cross the tryline twice.
The Canadians, through Lockie Kratz, scored a consolation converted try late in the match.
Earlier in the day, the Blitzboks picked up a victory over Samoa at the Sevens Stadium.
After leading 17-7 at half time, the South African Sevens side went on to score four tries and Justin Geduld kicked two conversions in a 22-14 win over their pool rivals.
First half tries from Christie Grobbelaar, Rosko Specman and Shilton van Wyk laid the platform for the Blitzboks’ win after Faafoi Falaniko scored the opening minute for Samoa.
Taunuu Niulevaea struck first after the restart, but Impi Visser replied three minutes later as Philip Snyman’s charges held on to give the Blitzboks a morale-boosting.
