Luka Modric, a legendary midfielder for Real Madrid, has had an odd start to the new campaign. Under Carlo Ancelotti in 2023–2024, the storied Croatian international has had difficulty getting into games despite turning 38 earlier this month.

At the end of the season, Modric’s contract expired, and he received offers to move to Saudi Arabia. But he chose to extend his contract and stay with Real Madrid.

And if the change in the midfield this season was anticipated, the sharp decline in his playing time was not.Given the situation, Modric’s future at Real Madrid has been dragged under the spotlight, with talk of a potential January exit not being ruled out.

Former Barcelona captain and Inter Miami’s new MVP Lionel Messi himself is showing an interest in teaming up with Modric.
