.Trent Alexander-Arnold produced a ‘bang’ moment vs Brentford on Sunday, showing that he should be judged differently after his change of role at Liverpool.
Trent Alexander-Arnold had a couple of mishaps in his own defensive third as Liverpool battled to keep a clean sheet against Brentford on Sunday. First, he was somewhat bailed out by goalkeeper Alisson at 0-0 after failing to track the run of Bryan Mbeumo as the visitor countered following a Liverpool set-piece.
Mbeumo was able to run through on goal with little resistance from Alexander-Arnold, but Alisson fortunately rushed out to push his dink away. There was also an inexplicably loose touch inside his own area, not quite a pass but certainly not a dribble, that presented the Frenchman with another opportunity to score, but he mercifully lashed over.
But as he so often does, Alexander-Arnold made up for these mistakes going forward. He was instrumental in Liverpool’s first goal after picking up the ball from Dominik Szoboszlai, looking up and firing a pass through the Brentford midfield and into Darwin Núñez on the edge of the penalty area. From there, Núñez worked the ball onto Mohamed Salah, who took a touch and slotted it into the corner.
