Rangers attacker Kemar Roofe is stuck in a vicious injury and re-injury cycle which is stopping him from getting momentum, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert has analysed the Jamaica international’s numerous setbacks over the last two years and his lack of game time for Gers.
At the end of October, Philippe Clement even mentioned that he’s aiming to fix Roofe’s injury issues and has admitted that it’s been a problem.
Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“Based on the manager’s comments and injury history, Roofe has been dealing with repeat issues of the same injuries and the club have been trying to get him on the pitch to play quickly rather than take the longer course of determining the root causes.
Players can get into a vicious cycle of injury-reinjury, which is what he is in and he could have a similar lengthy setback in the future, especially with muscular injuries, and that often requires a much deeper look at the root causes.
Last season, Roofe played a grand total of 42 minutes in the league – making three substitute appearances.
This season, the 30-year-old’s fitness has improved and he’s already made six appearances – four of which have been from the opening whistle.
He’s also bagged a goal and if he stays fit, Philippe Clement will have an additional player in attack capable of playing all across the front line.
