CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns’ return game hasn’t been effective in the first half of the season, but the team has hope for this area thanks to James Proche II. During the Browns’ win over the Cardinals, he returned six punts for 55 yards (9.2 per return), which included a 17-yard return near the end of the first quarter.
Proche has prior experience in returning punts. During his rookie year with Baltimore, he totaled 23 returns for 198 yards (8.6 per return), ranking 11th league-wide in return yards.
“He has a history, and so you can study him and how he runs, but he’s very dependable. I thought he (fielded) the ball exceptionally well,” Stefanski said after the game Sunday.
With consistency, Proche could be used more frequently in the return game and make his mark.
