Trent Alexander-Arnold, a Liverpool and England player, smashed his Range Rover after a 40-foot power pylon fell on the vehicle in front of him.
On Friday, the Liverpool and England player was driving his £90,000 Range Rover when a high-voltage power line weighing roughly half a ton was uprooted on a damp country lane in Knutsford, Cheshire.
Storm Babet continued to hammer the UK, killing three people and knocking out electricity to 40,000 homes.
The pylon collided with a BMW X5 squarely in front of Alexander-Arnold, forcing him to brake hard and swerve before colliding with the vehicle.
The 25-year-old was photographed at the scene after exiting his vehicle to speak with the other driver. The front of his black Range Rover was also damaged, as was the front of his white BMW, a headlight from which was flung off the vehicle.
“At 10.34am this morning, we were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a black Range Rover and a BMW,” Cheshire Police stated.
“The accident was caused by an electricity pole that had fallen into the road.” Nobody was hurt, and the scene was cleared by 1.05pm.
“We called the utility company and had the power turned off.”
Later, Alexander-Arnold trained with Liverpool ahead of Saturday’s Merseyside derby.
He was picked to the starting lineup for the midday match against Everton and was seen pleased as he arrived at Anfield.
Alexander-Arnold’s representative has been contacted for comment.
Marcus Rashford, another England teammate, crashed his £700,000 Rolls-Royce near Manchester United’s Carrington base after his team’s 1-0 win against Burnley.
Witnesses released video online of the forward’s white luxury automobile looking heavily damaged, with a traffic island adjacent overturned.
