The Green Bay Packers’ season came to an end following a disappointing 22-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round. Sunday’s game was tough for Packers fans, as several key players suffered serious injuries and had to exit early.
With the offseason now underway, the Packers face a pivotal period. After two consecutive playoff seasons, the team must take significant steps to position themselves as legitimate Super Bowl contenders. On Monday, the front office announced the first set of offseason moves.
According to an official team statement, the Packers signed 12 players from their practice squad to reserve/future contracts. The group includes DL Deslin Alexandre, S Omar Brown, DL James Ester, CB Kamal Hadden, K Alex Hale, G Marquis Hayes, WR Julian Hicks, G/T Donovan Jennings, WR Cornelius Johnson, CB Kalen King, DL Jeremiah Martin, and TE Messiah Swinson.
These contracts ensure that the players remain with the team during the offseason and cannot negotiate with other teams. Future contracts allow teams to secure as many players as they like, provided they stay under the 90-man roster limit. These players will likely participate in OTAs, minicamp, and training camp, giving the Packers an opportunity to assess their potential.
Additional offseason moves are expected, including free agent signings, draft selections, and potential trades to fill out the 90-man roster ahead of the 2025 season. By August, the Packers will need to trim the roster to 53 players for the start of the season. Whether any of the 12 signees will make the final roster remains uncertain.
