JUST IN: After Marcus Rashford’s Man Utd exit door opens Mikel Arteta’s four-word remark says it all.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will test Manchester United’s resolve with a bid for Marcus Rashford next month, but considering their previous interest in the England international, this situation is worth keeping an eye on. Options for Rashford are certainly limited.

Reports from The Sun suggest that United are now contemplating letting him leave on loan in January, though they are hesitant to strengthen a Premier League rival. Rashford still has over three years left on his £315,000-per-week contract at Old Trafford, and it’s unclear if potential buyers will be willing to meet those salary demands.

PSG, like Arsenal, have shown long-standing interest in Rashford and are among the few clubs that could afford such a high wage. Arsenal’s highest-paid player is Kai Havertz, earning £280k a week, and only five Gunners players currently make over £200k per week. This indicates that any potential move for Rashford may require him to accept a wage cut.

A loan move to Arsenal could be structured in a way that allows Rashford to retain his current salary while the club sticks to its wage guidelines. A precedent for this could be the loan deal Arsenal negotiated for Raheem Sterling, where they split his £325k per week wages with Chelsea.

Rashford’s absence from the squad for Manchester United’s match against Manchester City last weekend, and his exclusion from the Carabao Cup match against Tottenham, as well as the expected absence from the upcoming match against Bournemouth, follows his exclusion by manager Ruben Amorim.
