The demanding festive fixture list challenges even the strongest squads in English football, and Liverpool are no exception.
With this in mind, it wasn’t surprising to see head coach Arne Slot make several changes for the midweek Carabao Cup victory over Southampton. Naturally, such a significant rotation carries some risks, but the 2-1 win allowed the Dutchman to give valuable playing time to fringe players who could prove vital in the weeks ahead.
That said, Slot still has a couple of injury concerns to manage ahead of a crucial clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Ibrahima Konaté has been sidelined since the win over Real Madrid due to a knee problem. Slot confirmed before the Southampton match that the French defender has not yet returned to full training, making his involvement against Spurs unlikely.
The same applies to Conor Bradley, who is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained against Madrid and is unlikely to feature on Sunday.
On a positive note, Liverpool otherwise appear to have a relatively clean bill of health. Diogo Jota came off the bench against Southampton despite initial fitness concerns following the draw with Fulham.
